Man Convicted Of Repeatedly Raping Girl Over Four Years
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A northwest suburban man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a young child he knew over a period of four years.
Armando Vega, 51, was convicted Tuesday of four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, according to a statement from the Kane County state's attorney's office.
Between February 2007 and February 2011, Vega committed multiple sexual acts with the victim while she was sleeping on the sofa at a relative's home, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Vega knew the victim, who was younger than 13 at the time.
Vega, of the 300 block of Shiloh Lane in Elgin, had been free on bond, but after the conviction he was taken into custody at the Kane County Jail.
Vega faces a minimum sentence of 27 years in prison, and must register as a sex offender for life. He will be sentenced March 13.
