Man Charged With threatening To Shoot Middle School Student
(STMW) -- A northwest suburban man is behind bars Thursday after threatening to shoot a middle school student involved in an argument with the man's son, police said.
Officers were called about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday to Northwood Middle School at 2121 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock for a "possible domestic situation," a statement from Woodstock police said.
Police learned that the father of a student "made a verbal threat of violence against a minor child" who attends the school after the boy was involved in an argument with his son. Police do not know what the argument was about, but said both boys are middle-school students.
"No gun was displayed, just the threat that the father was going to get a gun and come back and shoot the offending youth," Woodstock Dep. Chief Robert Lowen said.
The incident occurred on school grounds, but not in the building, he said, and several "youths confirmed the threat."
The witnesses identified the man as 40-year-old Milland P. Ray of Woodstock, who was arrested without incident at his home in the 30 block of Stewart Avenue, according to police.
Ray was charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct because "the threat of violence occurred on school property," according to the police statement.
He remained in custody Thursday afternoon on a $1,000 bond Thursday at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility. His next court date is scheduled for June 5.
