Man Charged With Stealing Vases From Cemeteries For Scrap
ELMHURST, Ill. (CBS) -- Police in Elmhurst have arrested a man who was wanted for stealing brass vases from five Chicago area cemeteries.
Jeffrey T. Burke, 35, of the 8800 block of South Main Street in Hometown, is charged with felony theft and possessing stolen property with intent to deprive, as well as driving on a suspended license.
Elmhurst police say Burke stole brass vases from headstones at two Elmhurst cemeteries, a cemetery in unincorporated Will County, and two other cemeteries that have not been identified.

He allegedly took the vases to a scrapyard to redeem cash.
Burke pleaded guilty to a similar crime previously. He admitted to felony theft in DuPage County in 2007 and was sentenced to five years in prison, but apparently did not serve his whole sentence.
He is now being held at the DuPage county Jail on $60,000 bond.
