Man Charged With Stabbing Mother After Argument On SW Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 27-year-old Southwest Side man was expected to appear for a bond hearing Sunday, on charges that he stabbed his mother repeatedly in their apartment following an argument the two had Thursday afternoon.
The man, Lionel Robinson, who lives in the 3100 block of West 62nd Street, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Sunday for a bond hearing.
He was arrested on the West Side Thursday night. The man's 49-year-old mother, though she was stabbed in the head, shoulder, hand and neck area, was hospitalized, in "stable" condition, police said.
Police were called to the apartment in the 3100 block of West 62nd Street about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
The woman, who was bleeding from the face and arm, told officers she was stabbed by her son after a verbal altercation, Perez said.
He had apparently used "some kind of kitchen knife," according to Perez, to stab her.
She had multiple lacerations to the head, shoulder, hand and neck area, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition was stable, police said.
Her son had fled the apartment before officers arrived Thursday, but he was found about five hours later, at 9:54 p.m., in a 2006 Dodge Stratus in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue.
