Man Charged With Skokie Bar Stabbing
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Bond was denied for a 50-year-old Chicago man facing an attempted murder charge for allegedly stabbing another man during a bar fight in north suburban Skokie on Friday night.
About 10 p.m., an argument escalated between James I. Vechiola and a 52-year-old Wheaton man at the Skokie House Bar, 7887 Lincoln Ave., according to a statement from Skokie police.
Vechiola allegedly stabbed the other man, who was taken in serious condition to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said.
Vechiola, of the 2800 block of West Touhy, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, police said.
He was ordered held without bond Monday, according to the Cook County sheriff's office. His next court date is scheduled for April 20.
