Man Charged With Shooting At Cops On NW Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Charges were filed against a man who allegedly fired at Chicago Police officers Thursday night in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
Officers noticed a man with a gun in the 2900 block of North Allen Avenue at 10 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
As officers approached, the man opened fire, Greer said. The officers did not return fire and no one was injured.
Jose Rios, 30, of the 3000 block of North Kimball Avenue was charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm at a police officer, being an armed habitual criminal and no valid FOID card.
In bond court on Saturday, a Cook County judge denied bail for Rios, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.
