Man Charged With Selling Fake Bears Tickets
CHICAGO (STMW) - A Crestwood man who spent more than $1,000 on fake Bears tickets for Sunday's game was charged with forgery after selling two of them to another man, police said.
The victim went online and bought two tickets from Kenneth Babich, 24, in section 108 for $250 each for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to a Chicago Police report.
They met Sunday morning at 1800 S. Lake Shore Dr. and the victim picked up the tickets, but learned they were counterfeit when he tried to enter the stadium, police said.
Frustrated, he called Babich back and told him he wanted to buy more tickets. Babich agreed and they met again at the same location -- this time a police sergeant who arrested him at 11:45 a.m., according to the report. Police recovered two more tickets.
While at the Central District for processing, Babich told police he'd purchased the tickets for $1,050 several days before the game at 35th and State streets and learned they were fake when comparing them to tickets his boss had. He told police he wanted his money back so he put them on Craigslist, the report said.
Police said Babich, of 13617 Loomis Lane in Crestwood, was charged with one count of felony forgery.
