Man Charged With Selling Counterfeit Items At Uptown Store

CHICAGO (STMW) - A Deerfield man was ordered held on $50,000 bond Sunday for allegedly possessing more than 4,000 counterfeit items -- including Casio watches, Nike apparel and professional sports gear -- in his Uptown store.
Bo Hyun Nam, 46, of the 200 block of Tanager Court in Deerfield, was charged at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with four felony counts and one misdemeanor count of selling counterfeit merchandise, police said.

Police executed a search warrant about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at A-One Trading in the 4500 block of North Clark Street and found more than 4,000 pieces of counterfeit merchandise, police said. Nam is the owner of the store.
Officers recovered 1,952 Casio watches, 1,588 pieces of counterfeit MLB merchandise, 1,039 pieces of counterfeit Nike Air Jordan merchandise, 262 pieces of counterfeit NFL merchandise and 52 counterfeit NBA items, police said.
It was disclosed in open court Sunday that the retail value of the counterfeited items is $39,000.
The number of counterfeited items determines if the charge is a felony or misdemeanor, authorities said.
Judge Israel Desierto ordered Nam on $50,000 bond during a Sunday hearing, according to a court clerk. Nam is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Dec. 27 in North Felony Court, (Br. 42).
