GARY, Ind. (STMW) - A Gary man has been charged in Lake Superior Court with rape and several other felonies in connection with a sexual assault at his home.
Darin Andre Dunham, 44, of the 1100 block of Jackson Street, is charged with raping a 19-year-old woman, who told police she and Dunham had been smoking crack on Nov. 19. The woman had a knot by both eyes, scratches on her chest and other injuries.
The woman said she elbowed Dunham and bit his hand. He threw her purse onto the floor and threw her cell phone out the door.
The woman ran from the home and to her grandmother's home.
In addition to rape, Dunham is charged with two counts of criminal confinement, strangulation, intimidation, interference with reporting a crime and misdemeanor battery.
