Man Charged With Murdering Mother In Bolingbrook
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (STMW) -- A man accused of stabbing his mother to death during a domestic dispute in her Bolingbrook home was ordered held in lieu of $5 million bond Saturday.
Michael L. Marzo, 23, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, Bolingbrook police Lt. Michael Rompa said.
Marzo is accused of murdering his 52-year-old mother, Shirley M. Marzo.
Officers responded about 3:45 p.m. Friday to a domestic trouble call at 513 Nassau Ave. in Bolingbrook when the woman's daughter said her mother was dead, Rompa said.
Shirley Marzo was pronounced dead at her home at 5:20 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office. A Saturday autopsy confirmed she died of multiple stab wounds.
Police found the woman dead in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds to her back. A preliminary investigation determined she had a domestic dispute with her son, Rompa said.
After an extensive search, Micahel Marzo was found in Chenoa -- about 80 miles southwest of Bolingbrook, Rompa said.
On Saturday, Adriano Marzo said he was too distraught to talk about his wife's murder.
"She's dead. She's dead. I can't even talk about it," he said.
It was unclear whether the mother and son had a history of domestic fights.
