Shirley Marzo was pronounced dead at her home at 5:20 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office, which will perform an autopsy later Saturday.
Police found the woman dead in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds to her back. A preliminary investigation determined she had a domestic dispute with her son, Rompa said.
After an extensive search, Micahel Marzo was found in Chenoa -- about 80 miles southwest of Bolingbrook, Rompa said.
The final cause and manner of death is pending autopsy, toxicological and police reports, the coroner's office said.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
