Man Charged With Murder Of Woman Found In Glen Ellyn Park
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (STMW) -- A man was charged Tuesday with murdering a Wheaton woman who was found stabbed to death in a park in west suburban Glen Ellyn.
The body of 33-year-old Linda Valez was discovered in a forested area of a park on Saturday. Her body showed "obvious" signs of trauma, and there was evidence that Valez had been stabbed, authorities said previously.
Myron D. Ester, 40, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death, the DuPage State's Attorney's office said Tuesday. He will appear for a bond hearing Wednesday.
Police found Valez's body after they were prompted to patrol the area near Panfish Park in connection with a missing person reported by Wheaton police earlier in the week.
While in the area, officers noticed signs of "foot traffic and activity that appeared to have occurred in a forested area of the park," Glen Ellyn police said.
Prosecutors did not disclose a motive for the attack Tuesday afternoon.
