Man Charged With Killing Wife After She Asked For Divorce, Refused To Have Sex
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- An Addison man has been charged with killing his wife during a domestic dispute over the weekend, and their son said he saw it all.
CBS 2's Marissa Bailey reports 33-year-old Kurtis Worley was ordered held on $3 million bond Monday morning, charged with first degree murder and aggravated domestic battery.
He is accused of killing his 39-year-old wife, Martha, on Friday, and stabbing his 15-year-old stepson, who tried to intervene.
DuPage County prosecutors alleged Worley asked his wife to have sex with him one last time after she told him she wanted a divorce, and when she refused, he stabbed her in the head with a knife.
Police said Worley was drunk at the time.
Between the two, the couple had three children.
Authorities said Worley's 15-year-old stepson heard his mother screaming, and when he tried to get into the bedroom, Worley answered the door "naked and looking like … a psychopath," according to prosecutors.
Worley allegedly stabbed his stepson in the neck.
When police arrived, the three children were outside, and Martha Worley was in the home, lying face down in a pool of blood. Kurtis Worley had cut his throat and slit his wrists, and allegedly told police he tried to kill himself after realizing what he'd done.
