Man Charged With Killing Teen At Waukegan Hotel
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) -- A 26-year-old transient, who lives in Waukegan and Kenosha, Wis., has been charged with the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old man in a north suburban hotel.
At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Waukegan police responded to a 911 call of a stabbing at a hotel in the 3100 block of Belvidere Road, a statement from police said. When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Jacob Blum in the lobby bleeding from a chest wound.
Blum was able to identify his assailant before being taken to Vista West Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just before 12:30 a.m., police said.
Officers, acting on the information supplied by Blum and his family members, arrested Kevin C. Curtis, 26, at the hotel. He was charged with first-degree murder, according to police.
Police said Curtis was acquainted with Blum and his family through their work in outside sales for a meat packing company. Blum and his family were transient residents of the hotel, police said.
Curtis was expected to appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
