Man Charged With Killing Mother's Boyfriend
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 48-year-old Chicago man was being held on $500,000 bond Saturday, accused of stabbing his mother's boyfriend to death.
Dwayne Jackson, of the 300 block of North Austin Boulevard, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Melvin Perry, 72, on Tuesday.
Police responded to a well-being check early Tuesday and found Perry with fatal stab wounds in his apartment at 7145 S. Cyril Ave., according to police.
Judge Israel Desierto ordered Dwayne Jackson held on $500,000 bond Satuday, according to a Cook County Criminal Court clerk. Jackson is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Monday in Violence Court, (Br. 66).
Perry was the boyfriend of Jackson's mother, police said. Jackson allegedly stabbed him in the chest during an argument and fled the apartment.
Members of the police Fugitive Apprehension Section arrested Jackson Friday in the Loop, police said.
