Man Charged With Killing Infant Son
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) -- A Chicago man has been charged with the murder of his 2-month-old son, who died Saturday at a north suburban hospital.
Andre Sharkey, 32, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, according to a statement from Waukegan police.
The boy was brought by his mother to Vista East Hospital in Waukegan on Saturday night with "suspicious injuries," and died about 10:30 p.m., police said.
The boy, who lived with his mother in the 2400 block of Dugdale Road in Waukegan, died of "trauma to the abdomen," police said. The mother is not being charged, according to police.
Police would not release the name of the infant Tuesday, and a spokesman for the Lake County Coroner's office was not immediately available to comment.
Sharkey appeared in court Tuesday morning and was ordered held on a $3 million bond, police said. He is next scheduled to appear in court Dec. 16.
