Man Charged With Killing Friend At Waukegan Hotel
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) -- A 26-year-old transient was been indicted on murder charges by a Lake County Grand Jury Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a friend at a Waukegan hotel where both were staying.
Kevin Curtis was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jacob Blum, 19.
Waukegan police said that at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, July, 16, they received a 911 call for a stabbing at the Red Roof Inn on the 3100 block of Belvidere Road.
When they arrived, they found Blum bleeding in the lobby from a chest wound. He was able to identify his assailant, but he was not able to tell police why there was an altercation.
Both men worked for a company that sells meat door-to-door in neighborhoods for a meat packing company.
Blum died shortly after arriving at Vista Medical Center West, Waukegan, around 12:30 a.m., July 17.
Based on information from Blum and his family members, police arrested Curtis.
Blum's family moved out of the hotel to stay with relatives elsewhere in the county following his death.
