Man Charged With July Murder, Home Invasion
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Greater Grand Crossing man has been charged with fatally shooting a man during a July robbery and home invasion in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
Damien Thomas, 21, was charged Wednesday with murder and home invasion, both felonies, according to police News Affairs.
Thomas and Dorvell Gogins allegedly broke into a home to rob it about 3 p.m. July 11 and shot 27-year-old Jeremiah Brown in the chest, authorities said.
Brown, of the 6200 block of South Albany Avenue, died on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Thomas' accomplice Dorvell Gogins, 23, was arrested the day of the murder, police said. Information on the charges against Gogins was not immediately available.
Thomas, of the 2300 block of West 65th Street, is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
