Man Charged With Fatal Shooting Of Teen He Thought Was Burglar
ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) - A 57-year old northwest suburban man was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless discharge of a firearm Wednesday for the shooting death Monday night of a teen he believed was breaking into his car.
The Cook County State's Attorney's office charged Donald Rattanavong of the 800 block of Arthur Drive in Elgin with in the shooting of 18-year old Guillermo Pineda. Pineda and several other teenagers were believed to be burglarizing Rattanavong's car at about 10:50 p.m., a release from Elgin police said.
Pineda, of the 1100 block of Iroquois, Elgin, was taken to Sherman Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He died a short time later, police said.
