Man Charged With Fatal Shooting In Elgin
A man has been charged with shooting a 59-year-old man to death early Sunday in northwest suburban Elgin.
Alberto J. Sepeda, 29, faces felony counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, home invasion and unlawful restraint for the attack in the 800 block of Morgan Street, Elgin police announced Monday night.
About 4:15 a.m., officers responding to a disturbance found Norbert Gutierrez, who had suffered at least one gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where he died.
The officers spotted Sepeda taking off in a car with a 25-year-old woman and 1-year-old girl, whom he had forced inside, police allege.
After a nearly two-mile chase, Sepeda was arrested in the 1100 block of Oakley Avenue in Elgin, police said. The woman and girl were not hurt.
Sepeda, of the 300 block of South Belmont Avenue in Elgin, is due in Kane County bond court Tuesday.
