Man Charged With DUI In Deadly Northbrook Crash
NORTHBROOK, Ill. (CBS) -- A 22-year-old Buffalo Grove man has been charged with driving drunk in a crash that left a woman dead in Northbrook.
Jiho Lee is charged with three felony counts relating to DUI, and is ticketed for speeding and driving without insurance. His bond was set at $1 million cash in the Skokie Courthouse Friday, meaning he must provide the entire amount to be released rather than the 10 percent usually required, Northbrook police said.
The crash happened at 1:35 a.m. Thursday at Sanders Road and Commercial Avenue in Northbrook. Zofia E. Stzalkowska, 58, of Mount Prospect, was turning from westbound Commercial Avenue onto southbound Sanders Road, and was hit by a vehicle driven by Lee and occupied by two other men, police said.
Strzalkowska was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lee and another man in the car he was driving were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital after the crash.
Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, semi-truck driver Richard Stolt, 51, of Cleveland, Minn., was killed, and another truck driver was injured, in a pileup involving two semis and four cars on Skokie Highway (U.S. 41) and Half Day Road in Highland Park.
