Man Charged With DUI After Rear-Ending Ambulance
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorist was charged with driving under the influence after rear-ending an ambulance on a ramp from the Kennedy Expressway to the northbound Tri-State Tollway Friday night.
Dominik Mach, 26, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Illinois State Police District 15 Master Sgt. Nizar Hasan said.
Mach was driving a 2007 silver Toyota Prius when he rear-ended a privately owned ambulance on the ramp to northbound Interstate 294 from westbound Interstate 90 at 9:17 p.m., Hasan said.
Mach suffered a broken hip and possible internal injuries, Hasan said. A passenger in the ambulance suffered a slight laceration to the neck.
Mach was allegedly under the influence of cocaine, Hasan said.
A partial ramp closure lasted for about an hour.
