Man Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Dental Office
CHICAGO (STMW) -- An intoxicated Chicago man earned a handful of traffic citations late Monday after he crashed a minivan into a Southwest Side dental office and fled the scene on foot, police said.
Police said the 32-year-old man was driving north on South Komensky Avenue about 11:47 p.m., when he blew a stop sign at a road-ending "T" intersection, plowing into the Silver Lake Dental Office, 4020 W. 59th St.
The man then abandoned his 2005 Chrysler Town and County minivan, fleeing the scene on foot, police said. Officers later found him walking on a nearby street, police said.
Witnesses of the crash identified the man as the driver of the minivan, police said. No one was injured in the crash.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was charged with DUI and possession of cannabis after officers recovered a bag of marijuana in the van, police said. He was also cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failing to stop at a stop sign and crashing into the property, police said.
The 32-year-old is due in traffic court on June 18th.
