Man Charged With Causing South Loop Explosion
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged with causing a small explosion in a South Loop apartment that left him and another man with burns Tuesday night.
Daniel Tatman, 21, caused a small explosion using an "incendiary device" and marijuana in the bathroom of his apartment in the 1200 block of South Michigan Avenue about 11 p.m., police said.
Tatman and another man in the apartment suffered burns in the explosion, police said. They were both treated at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for burns on their arms, authorities said.
Officers recovered about 1,900 grams of marijuana in the apartment with an estimated street value of $30,000, police said.
Tatman was charged with one felony count each of possession of cannabis, reckless conduct causing great bodily harm and criminal damage to property, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in bond court later Thursday.
