Man Charged With Breaking Sprinkler, Flooding SpyBar
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A trendy Near North Side nightclub is planning to hold its 15th anniversary celebration Friday night, but that was a question mark for a while after what happened there early Friday morning.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, around 1:30 a.m. Friday, police say a drunken man was leaving SpyBar at 646 N. Franklin St. in the River North neighborhood, when he allegedly took a swipe at the overhead fire sprinkler.

The suspect had claimed his head hit it, but police say surveillance video shows otherwise.
The sprinkler head popped off, and water started shooting to the floor, flooding the nightclub and damaging electronic and DJ equipment.
The suspect, Samuel Clucas, 27, of Burbank, is charged with felony criminal damage to property. He is set for a bond hearing Saturday.
On Twitter Friday, SpyBar said the damage was not going to stop the celebration.
"ONE sprinkler was intentionally set-off last night, causing minor annoyances. WE WILL ABSOLUTELY OPEN TONIGHT!" the club tweeted.
