Man Charged With Attacking Girlfriend At Elgin Casino
ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) -- A 27-year-old Crystal Lake man is charged with attacking his live-in girlfriend in the Grand Victoria Casino parking garage in northwest suburban Elgin.
A casino employee watching surveillance-camera TV screens noticed the attack taking place at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
According to police reports, Kevin Vazquez began arguing with the woman outside their parked car. As she got into the car, he reportedly slammed the car door on her legs. He then got into the car, too, and struck her with his hand, police reports stated.
As he began to drive away, reports stated, the woman opened the car door and stepped out of the moving vehicle. The surveillance man notified a state police officer stationed at the casino, and the officer took Vazquez into custody, according to reports.
Vazquez was charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and domestic battery involving bodily contact. Elgin police said the entire incident also was recorded on video by the Grand Victoria's surveillance system.
