VILLA PARK (STMW)-- A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with setting a pick-up truck on fire in west suburban Villa Park Saturday. Villa Park police and fire departments responded Saturday to the area of 726 W. Roy Dr. for reports of a vehicle on fire, according to a Villa Park police release. A Ford Pick-up truck was found fully engulfed in flames. A trash receptacle was also on fire in the same area and another vehicle sustained minor fire damage one block away.
Officers recovered evidence that led them to Felipe Hernandez-Ortiz, 21, of Villa Park, who was found at his home and arrested.
Hernandez was charged with one count of arson (a Class 2 felony), and one count of criminal damage to property (a Class A misdemeanor). Hernandez is being held at the DuPage County Jail on a $20,000 bond, according to Villa Park police.
