Man Charged In Sexual Abuse Of Teen
CHICAGO (STMW) - A Wisconsin man was ordered held on $200,000 bond Thursday after being charged with allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in a van on the Near West Side.
Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas ordered Alan Robinson, 47, held on $200,000 bond during a Thursday hearing, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton.
Robinson is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Dec. 29, according to Simonton.
Police said Robinson, of the 23000 block of 20th St., New Auburn, Wisc., was charged Wednesday night with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
He was arrested at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the 1300 block of W. Lexington St. after patrol officers saw a blue Dodge van with tinted windows parked with its light on and the engine running but with no visible occupants or driver, according to a police report.
The officers saw the van "shaking in a vigorous manner'' so officers approached it, and Robinson told officers he was sleeping when they asked what he was doing, according to the report.
Officers then saw a "terrified" 14-year-old girl under a blanket in the van, and she told officers Robinson was her uncle, according to the report.
But police later learned Robinson was not a relative but someone she had been communicating with online and by cell phone, the report said.
The girl was taken to University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago to be examined.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
