Man Charged In Robbery, Fatal Shooting In South Shore
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged with murder for a South Shore shooting inside the victim's home Tuesday morning.
Christopher Garcia, 26, faces one count each of first-degree murder, murder while committing another forcible felony and attempted robbery with the discharge of a firearm, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
Garcia was identified as the man who shot 26-year-old Derrick McIntyre in the chest about 10:10 a.m. Tuesday inside McIntyre's home in the 7800 block of South Coles Avenue, authorities said.
McIntyre was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A police source said the victim was a documented gang member.
Garcia, of the 8000 block of South South Shore Drive, was scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday, police said.
