CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 20-year-old gang member was ordered held without bail Tuesday in the shooting death of a 14-year-old rival a block from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
Prosecutors said Cesar Garay, 20, a member of the Imperial Gangsters street gang, got into an argument Friday night with members of the Latin Kings street gang in the 10000 block of Carol Court in Rosemont.
Garay allegedly went into his nearby home, retrieved a gun and returned to continue the confrontation with rival gang members before firing at least two shots at the group, Cook County State's Attorney spokesman Steve Campbell said. One of the bullets hit Patrick Boswell, 14, in the head back of the head.
Boswell, of the 1600 block of Morse in Des Plaines, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Garay was arrested Sunday at his sister's home in Mount Prospect.
He was charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Judge Joseph Cataldo ordered Garay be held without bail during a hearing Tuesday at the county courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
