Man Charged In Hit-And-Run Outside River North Nightclub
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A west suburban Melrose Park man is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly running down two men on purpose Sunday after a fight erupted in a River North nightclub.
Alejandro Escobar, 37, of the 1800 block of North 19th Street in Melrose Park, was charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, according to a release from police News Affairs.
The accident happened about 4:50 a.m. Oct. 7 after a fight erupted in a club in the 100 block of West Ontario Street, police News Affairs Officer Daniel Sullivan said.
After the fight spilled out onto the street, Escobar deliberately drove his 2009 red Honda Accord onto the sidewalk and hit two people who were standing outside the club, police said.
Both men, ages 23 and 30, were taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
Escobar was arrested Friday at his Melrose Park home, police said.
He is scheduled to appear later Saturday in bond court.
