Man Charged In Fight That Ended In Crash Through Macy's Window
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Northcenter neighborhood man is in serious criminal trouble in connection with a fight in which he and another man crashed through the window of the Macy's flagship store downtown.
Chad Chamberlain, 30, of the 4100 block of North Damen Avenue, stands charged with felony aggravated battery and criminal damage to property, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
It was not clear what made Chamberlain angry at a 25-year-old man who was standing in front of Macy's, 111 N. State St., passing out fliers for a health club around noon Sunday. But Chamberlain started swearing at the man, and pushed him in the chest, police said.
The men began brawling, and ended up crashing right through a plate glass window on the Wabash Avenue side of the store, police said.
Witnesses identified Chamberlain to responding police officers, Mirabelli said. As officers approached, Chamberlain ran but was taken into custody.
The other man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a cut to his lower right arm, Mirabelli said. Chamberlain, who suffered cuts on his face and arms, was treated at the scene.
He was expected in bond court Tuesday.
