Man Charged In Deadly Park Forest Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 22-year-old man from Country Club Hills has been charged with several felonies, after fleeing the scene of a crash that killed two teenage passengers in Park Forest earlier this week.

Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, a car crashed into a tree near Western Avenue and Algonquin Street, killing a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy who were inside the car.

The driver ran off after the crash, but later showed up at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Police said he did not report the crash when he arrived at the hospital, and said his injuries were not from a crash.

The hospital called Chicago Heights police, who saw his injuries were consistent with a car crash, and notified Park Forest police, who arrested him.

The driver, 22-year-old Jonathan Hurst, has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide, two counts of aggravated DUI, and one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

He was due to appear for a bond hearing on Friday at the Markham Courthouse.

Authorities have not released the names of the two boys who were killed in the crash.
