Man Charged After Brawl At Youth Football Game
BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (CBS) -- A fight last month among parents and youth football players in the western suburbs has led to charges against a 41-year old man.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, it seemed like a free-for-all after the last game in Bloomingdale last month between the Bloomingdale Bears and the Hanover Park Hurricanes, the Daily Herald reported.
Police reports indicate the elementary school students began fighting during the game at Circle Park, and some parents stepped in to break up the fight. But some of the parents ended up getting into the fight themselves, the newspaper reports.
The Daily Herald says Ernest Lane, 41, of Bloomingdale, is charged with battery for allegedly punching another man in the face and head.
At least four people were hurt in the brawl, including a 14-year-old player who allegedly told police he was poked in the eye by a woman through his face mask, the Daily Herald reported.
Bloomingdale police say the incident remains under investigation. Both teams have been suspended from play, according to the Daily Herald.
