Man Carjacked In Broad Daylight In Lincoln Park
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Police are investigating a carjacking that took place Tuesday morning in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The victim was startled by two armed men who demanded his BMW in the 800 block of W. Oakdale.
CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports the area Halsted and Diversey has seen its crime troubles of late, but it's not the type of crime they're accustomed to, nor at the time.
The victim's wife from her husband saying that he was ok and that he was just carjacked.
"What you've been carjacked. Where are you? There is no way he was on our street," she said.
It was 11 a.m. when her husband faced the business end of a gun.
"The more important thing is it's that 11 o'clock in the morning," she said. "There's a young mother who walked past as it was going on," she said. "That's bold."
She says they've seen crime like never before.
"Three blocks away, a young mother held up at gun point with her two-year-old," she said.
Her husband is okay, less their car. The 15-year-old vehicle was potentially targeted because it didn't have any GPS in it.
One neighborhood resident says it's mindboggling.
"I guess we have to be vigilant and very watchful."
CPD confirmed the report and said the hunt is on for the offenders.
