Man Breaks Window With Bare Hands In Fire
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man inside a burning building broke out a window with his bare hands early Wednesday in the Logan Square neighborhood, police said.
The fire started about 2:25 a.m. on a couch inside a second-floor residence of a condominium building at 2318 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to a Shakespeare District police lieutenant.
Several units inside the building were evacuated and a man inside the burning home broke out a window with his hands and suffered smoke inhalation and minor cuts from the glass, according to the lieutenant.
He was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, and no other injuries were reported.
Initially three families were displaced, but they were allowed back inside their homes, the lieutenant said.
The blaze was apparently accidental and a city Dept. of Streets & Sanitation truck was requested about 3:15 a.m. so salt could be poured on the street.
