Man Beaten To Death Over Cell Phone At Bus Stop
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A group of men beat a 41-year-old man to death over a cell phone at a bus stop on 79th Street over the weekend, in an attack that a neighbor called "senseless."
As WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports, Darius Link, 41, was killed in the attack in the 1000 block of East 79th Street around 3 a.m. Saturday.

"It's just senseless. It's not even news anymore," Grand Crossing neighborhood resident Jocelyn King said in the Chicago Sun-Times. "It's scary out here at night."
Link and his friend left an acquaintance's house around 3 a.m. and were waiting at the bus stop when a man approached and asked to use the friend's cell phone, police said.
When the friend declined, the man tried to hit him, police said. The friend ran to get help, but three or four other men joined the person who asked for the phone and beat the victim.
Link was pronounced dead less than a half hour after the attack University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
He died of a hemorrhage caused by the attack, and his death was ruled a homicide.
