Man Attempts To Lure Girl, 12, Near 26th And Indiana
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Parents on the northern end of the Bronzeville neighborhood are on alert, after a man tried to lure a young girl on her way to school.
Just after 7 a.m. Thursday, the 12-year-old girl was walking to school along Indiana just south of 26th Street, amid the townhomes and high-rises of the South Commons condo development.
Police say a man approached the girl, but he kept trying to block her path as she tried to walk around him, police said in a community alert. After several attempts of trying to get around him, she finally got away.
The man is described as a man in his mid-50s, black, with a light complexion, short hair and brown eyes, the alert said. He also had a short gray beard.
The man was wearing a blue Cubs baseball cap with the team's red letter C on the front, a dark blue T-shirt, and blue jeans.
He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds, according to the alert.
Anyone with information is asked to call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
