Man Arrested After Trying To Rob Off-Duty Cop
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was arrested early Friday after trying to rob an off-duty Chicago police officer at knifepoint on the North Side.
The officer, 25, was walking in the 1700 block of West Diversey Parkway about 12:30 a.m. when a man rode up on a bicycle, displayed a knife and announced a robbery, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The officer then identified himself and placed the would-be robber into custody without incident, Greer said.
Assisting officers transported the man, 20, to the 19th District police station for processing, Greer said.
Charges against the man are pending, Greer said.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
