Man Arrested After Ramming Stolen Van Into Police Car
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are questioning one person and seeking the second following a brief chase on the South Side in which an officer was injured.
Eyewitnesses said a man driving a green Ford E-150 with Mississippi plates chose the wrong place to stop for snacks.
"The man said he went into the store and someone hopped into his car and drove off with the car," said Monique, who ended up a victim when her car was hit.
The man dialed 911 and police tried to stop the van at 59th and Wolcott streets. Police said the van rammed a stopped squad car and struck the officer standing beside it, knocking him to the ground.
Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said that the 26-year-old officer sustained a broken leg and a concussion. He was transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital, in Evergreen Park, for treatment.

With other officers in pursuit, the van then headed down Winchester till it struck the car owned by Monique.
"Someone hopped out of the car, the police started to chase them, the car kept rolling, and it rolled into my car," she said.
No one was in Monique's parked Mazda Protege when it was hit.
Neither Monique nor others were able to provide a detailed description of the car thief being sought.
