Man And Girlfriend Charged With Killing Her Other Boyfriend
MARKHAM, Ill. (STMW) -- An Iowa man and his northwest Indiana girlfriend have been charged with murder for the fatal shooting of a northwest Indiana man – another one of her boyfriends – in south suburban Dolton last month.
After the death of Eric Denim of East Chicago, Faye P. Brown of Hobart allegedly told authorities that he was only supposed to get beaten up, not killed, prosecutors said in court in Markham.
Arrest warrants were issued for Brown and Albert Allen Jr., 26, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the fatal shooing Oct. 23 in the 400 block of Jefferson Street in Dolton, a village spokeswoman said.
Allen, 26, was pulled over by police on Oct. 27 near I-380 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cedar Rapids Police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said. He was extradited to Illinois and ordered held on $2 million bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.
Brown, 27, of 1081 Csokasy Ct. in Hobart, Ind., appeared in bond court Monday and was ordered held on $1 million bond, according to the sheriff's office.
A Dolton spokeswoman said witnesses led authorities to Allen and Brown for the slaying of Denim, 35, who was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Denim, of 4862 Baring Ave. in East Chicago, was found with multiple traumatic injuries, according to the medical examiner's office. A source said he had "holes all over." An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
Prosecutors said Denim and Brown began to fight outside a Dolton bar and after the fight, he drove off in her car. That's when she broke the window of his car, then went inside and got her other boyfriend, Allen. They went outside and Brown began to yell at Allen, asking him "What are you going to do about it?", prosecutors allege.
Denim returned with Brown's car, and Allen and Brown went to the home of a man now considered a witness in the case. Allen called Denim and told him to come over to the home, court records said.
Denim picked up a friend and brought him to the home. Once there, Brown and Denim began to argue, when Allen came from across the street, pulled a gun from his hoodie and shot Denim multiple times, court records said.
The friend Denim had brought over then ran away, while Brown and Allen fled in her car. She later told witnesses that she hadn't meant for it to happen that way, and Denim was just supposed to get beat up, prosecutors said.
Both Allen and Brown will appear for preliminary hearings on Thursday at the Markham courthouse.
