Man Allegedly Kicks Cop In Face During DUI Arrest
AURORA, Ill. (STMW) - An Aurora man is facing felony charges after allegedly kicking a police officer in the face Monday while he was taken into custody for drunken driving, police said.
Hector Sanchez-Garcia, 23, of the 400 block of Morton Avenue in Aurora, was charged with felony battery to a police officer and felony resisting a police officer, authorities said.
According to Aurora police, Sanchez-Garcia was involved in a crash at about 6:08 p.m. Monday near Charles Street and Howard Avenue. Police said Sanchez-Garcia struck a parked car and fled from officers who arrived on the scene. Officers followed Sanchez to his home and found empty beer cans in Sanchez-Garcia's vehicle, according to police.
Police charged Sanchez-Garcia with drunken driving, having no license or insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a stop sign.
During his arrest, prosecutors said, Sanchez-Garcia struck an officer in the face with his foot and pushed his way out of a transport van. One officer was injured in the incident, prosecutors said.
