Man Accused Of Supplying Illegal Trafficker With Firearms From Gun Shows
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A suburban man has been charged with supplying dozens of guns he bought in Indiana to an alleged illegal gun trafficker on the city's South Side.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports federal prosecutors allege David Lewisbey, of South Holland, bought guns at gun shows in Indiana, then sold them to an alleged illegal gun dealer into Chicago.
Federal prosecutors said Lewisbey supplied Englewood gun trafficker Levaine Tanksley with most of the 43 guns Tanksley allegedly sold to a federal informant in April.

Lewisbey has been charged with smuggling guns from Indiana to Illinois, and has been ordered held without bail, pending a hearing before a federal magistrate on Jan. 9.
Tanksley was charged earlier this year.
A father and son from Indianapolis admitted selling about 30 guns to Lewisbey in March and April, at a gun show and in private deals. No criminal background check is required when firearms are bought at gun shows, or in private deals.
Stores that sell guns, however, must have a federal license and conduct criminal background checks.
