Man, 72, Charged After Road Rage Incident
HAMMOND, Ind. (STMW) - A 72-year-old northwest Indiana man has been charged in Lake Superior Court with intimidation and pointing a firearm in connection with a Monday road-rage incident.
William Kirk, of the 1100 block of North Wood Street in Griffith, Ind., allegedly cut off a driver twice near 169th Street and Kennedy Avenue. The driver went to the Van Til grocery store parking lot, 2635 169th St., and Kirk was waiting for him at the door with a string of expletives.
Authorities said Kirk threatened to shoot the other driver. He pulled a gun from his pants pocket and pointed it at the other driver, who pulled out his cell phone and discovered the battery was dead and yelled for someone to call police, court records state. The man identified Kirk from a six-person photo lineup.
Kirk is free on $3,000 cash bond. The case is assigned to the courtroom of Judge Thomas Stefaniak Jr.
