SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (CBS) --Schaumburg residents are uneasy after a male intruder with a stun gun attacked a female victim in her own home before he was scared off by the woman's fiancé.

It happened Wednesday morning in a subdivision near Barrington and Old Church roads.

Police say the suspect rang the doorbell about 7:15 a.m. and claimed to be a neighbor who needed to use the bathroom. He said his the plumbing at his residence wasn't working.

When the 26-year-old victim opened the door, the suspect used a stun gun on her. She yelled for her fiancé, who rushed to her aid.

"When I called for her, he acted very shocked and panicked," the fiancé told CBS 2's Pamela Jones.

The suspect fled.

As police work to create a sketch of the criminal, neighbors are making sure their doors are locked and are being extra careful about opening their doors to anyone.

"In my opinion, it had to be somebody who had been watching the area and kind of knew the ins and outs of people around the neighborhood," Kathleen Van Bogaert said.

Police describe the suspect as a heavy-set white male of about 270 pounds. His large stomach is a distinguishing feature.

He stands about 5-11 and is between 45 and 55 years old.

The woman shocked by the stun gun Wednesday has minor bruises and bumps, her fiancé says.
