Maintenance Work To Cause Delays On Red, Blue Lines
CHICAGO (STMW) - Late night CTA riders should allow extra travel time this week as construction on the Red and Blue lines is expected to cause minor delays.
Red Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the 63rd and 47th Street stations from 12:01 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday while crews perform track maintenance, according to the CTA's website.
As a result, passengers must board and exit all trains on the 95th Street-bound side of the platform at the Garfield station, the CTA said.
Additionally, Red Line trains will run on the same track between the Lake and North/Clybourn stations from 10:30 p.m. Monday to 4:30 a.m. Tuesday for maintenance work, the CTA said. The work will continue at the same times through early Friday.
On the first two days, passengers must board and exit all trains on the 95th Street-bound platform at the Grand and Chicago stations, and the 95th Street-bound side of the platform at the Clark/Division station. The next two nights, passengers must board on the Howard-bound side at the same stations.
On the Blue Line, trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Harlem and Jefferson Park stations from 11 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday for track maintenance, the CTA said. The work will continue at the same time the next night, ending early Tuesday.
No boarding changes are expected, but minor delays are possible.
Additionally, Blue Line trains will run on the same track between the Harlem (O'Hare branch) and Montrose stations from 11 p.m. Tuesday and 4 a.m. Wednesday, the CTA said. The work will continue at the same time the following night, ending early Thursday.
As a result, passengers must board and exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Jefferson Park station.
From 11 p.m. Thursday through 4 a.m. Friday, Blue Line trains will run on the same track between the Harlem and Irving Park stations because of track work, the CTA said. Passengers must board on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Montrose station during the first two hours and the O'Hare-bound side at the Montrose and Jefferson Park stations the second two hours.
Minor delays are expected, and the CTA is advising passengers to allow extra travel time. The work will also affect Train Tracker prediction availability.
