Mail Truck Robbed In Park Manor Is Third In 3 Days
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Another delivery driver is now the victim of robbers. This time, it's a postal worker in Chicago's Park Manor neighborhood.
CBS 2 Marissa Bailey reports.
The latest incident happened Wednesday morning near the corner of 72nd and Wabash.
A female postal worker was robbed of mail and packages in broad daylight.
She declined to talk on camera with CBS 2. She said she'll be back on the job Thursday, delivering the mail.
"Every day we got another delivery person that's been robbed," says crisis responder Andrew Holmes.
Tuesday, it was a delivery driver for Amazon. A week ago, it was another postal worker.
The USPS is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Holmes says neighbors need to be aware when drivers are in the area and be an extra set of eyes and ears for police. He says thieves are targeting mail for cash and credit cards.
"There's nothing that was in the mail that could enhance the quality of your life," Holmes says to whoever is robbing drivers.
There was no weapon used in this incident. Twelve other delivery truck drivers in Chicago have been robbed since December.
