Maggie Daley Spends Night In D.C. Hospital
WASHINGTON (CBS) -- Chicago's first lady Maggie Daley spent the night at a hospital in Washington, D.C., after suffering pain related to the cancer she has been battling for some time.
Her primary oncologist, Dr. Steven Rosen of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, said that Daley "slept well" Friday night after being hospitalized for evaluation of pain in her right leg. He could not provide any more detailed information about her condition Saturday morning.
Mrs. Daley was taken to Georgetown University Medical Center after feeling pain in her right leg, the same leg that had been treated for a cancerous tumor last year. She was visiting Washington with her husband, Mayor Richard M. Daley, and their daughters on Friday so Maggie could receive the Leadership Award from the Kuwait-America Foundation, according to the mayor's office.
Her leg was fitted with a titanium rod in March to strengthen the bone and prevent breakage. She has been battling metastatic breast cancer since 2002.

Rosen said Friday night that he had been in touch with doctors at Georgetown, and they said initial tests showed no significant change in Maggie Daley's cancer, which he said has been stable for months. Rosen said he expected her to return to Chicago within several days.
"She was experiencing some bone discomfort that we felt was significant enough to warrant an immediate evaluation," Rosen said in a news release.
"We felt it was prudent for Mrs. Daley to be observed overnight with appropriate pain management," he said. "We expect her to return to Chicago in the next few days to be evaluated here at Northwestern."
