Lumber Truck Crash Causes Major Delays On Bishop Ford

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Inbound and outbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway have reopened, about five hours after a lumber truck crashed and spilled its load, blocking traffic in both directions.
The truck crashed and rolled over around 4:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes near 159th Street.
Lumber spilled into the northbound lanes, as the flatbed trailer blocked southbound traffic.
The truck, owned by Cook County Trucking Co., was hauling approximately 48,000 pounds of lumber at the time, worth about $10,000. A company spokesman said the driver was not injured
One southbound lane reopened around 8:15 a.m., and traffic in both directions reopened around 9:40 a.m.
The trucking company said it was investigating the possibility of an equipment malfunction, but the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
