Lovie: 'We Haven't Peaked Yet'
The Bears have had some highs and lows so far this season. Losses to Washington and Seattle, at home, were some definite lows. At the same time, beating the Packers and Vikings at home and winning on the road after a short week in Miami were highs. But the important thing for the Bears is to make sure that the highs don't end, and the team continues to improve.
"You want to continue to peak," Lovie Smith said. "We haven't peaked yet, but you want to get better each week. You don't want to see the guys making that same mistakes over and over again, and we haven't done that."
The Bears have made drastic improvements since coming out of their bye week. They've made adjustments to the offensive philosophy and are looking like a more complete team.
"We've cleaned up some things. We see progress with our football team and they're feeling it," Smith said. "Each week as you make progress you get a little more confidence. We're a confident football team," Smith said.
Their confidence can continue to grow with a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. But as we've seen in the NFL playoffs, peaking too early can lead to a first round exit.
